Tia Maria Coffee Liqueur is partnering on documentary that honours legendary bartender Dick Bradsell and features insights from his daughter, Beatrice Bradsell.

London-based filmmaker Jacqueline Fernandez is set to premiere her latest micro-documentary, ‘Dick Bradsell Espresso Martini’, on March 15th – National Espresso Martini Day. The five-minute film delves into the creation of the now-iconic cocktail, famously invented in 1985 London when a model asked bartender Dick Bradsell to make her a drink that would “wake me up and then fu*k me up.”

The documentary, filmed at The Social – a venue where Bradsell often DJ’d – highlights a cinematic visual style inspired by acclaimed directors such as Steve McQueen and Edgar Wright. The film not only pays tribute to the beloved cocktail but also honours the creative genius behind it thanks to his daughter Beatrice.

When renowned bartender Dick Bradsell invented the Espresso Martini in 1980s London, Tia Maria was his original choice for the recipe. And it’s not just Bradsell – consumers agree that Tia Maria makes for an unbeatable Espresso Martini with 63% favouring Tia Maria as the superior coffee liqueur for the cocktail and 67% of bartenders choosing Tia Maria as their go-to. Beatrice features in the documentary, where she tells her father’s story and shares additional insights and details into this extraordinary story.
